A Welsh word for what you can't go back to.
Hiraeth (pronounced HEER-aith) is a Welsh word usually translated as "longing" or "homesickness," but neither quite catches it. It points at an ache for a home you can't return to — sometimes because it's gone, sometimes because the version you remember was never quite real. Sailors knew it.
